Dear
Parent, April 27, 2012
Here are the
lesson objectives covered the past few weeks:
Science – From the chapter Natural Resources we looked at how we
can protect or conserve our natural
resources such as water and soil. We talked about landfills and how we can reduce the amount of trash we make. We
also discussed how to reuse and recycle things to conserve resources.
On Monday we had a special speaker from the Missaukee Recycling Center in Lake
City tell us what things are recyclable and the programs and services available
there. Does your family recycle? If not, why not start this week? It is very
important to our environment!
Michigan – We are reading about how European
explorers founded colonies in North America. Important vocabulary words are: Northwest Passage, expeditions, trading post, missionaries, bartered,
voyageurs. They have also read about time lines and created a class
timeline of their birthdays.
Math – Our new chapter is “Multiplication
and Division”. The objectives were: review square number facts, multiplication,
and division; number models with parentheses; multiply by
multiples of 10, 100, and 1000; and estimating costs.
Reading – They continue to do lots of
classroom reading and many are taking AR tests.
English – Identify adjective that tell how many and use a, an, and the correctly.
§ Kleenex – We are out. Could you send
in a box?
§ Pencils – Your child may need a few
new ones.
§ Boys - Please return the RSVP
concerning the Mother/Son Game Night. If we do not get enough response, it will
be cancelled.
§ Field Trip – Send in $3.00 and the

§ Progress reports come home next Friday.
